August - September 2007 Atlantic Crossing

We crossed the Atlantic from the Canary Islands to Barbados in 21 days, 4 hours, with a full crew: Sharon Boyd, Amy Brisson, and Gene Rankin in addition to Rob and Andi. During our crossing, we received daily weather forecasts via Inmarsat satellite telephone e-mail from Amy's brother-in-law Ben Siebecker. We also sent daily position and status reports to Ben and his son, Dave Siebecker, who plotted our progress on a chart (below) and via Google Maps (opens a new window) as well as creating a kml file that can be loaded into Google Earth. Both provide an interactive interface for following our voyage. A text copy of our notes is also available.
